Happy Childhood Club was established in Balata Camp in 1997 with a temporary permission from the Ministry of Sport and Youth. A research was made then by the founders about children and their needs in the camp. They found out that childhood in the camp doesn’t actually mean what childhood means in anywhere else. The founders decided to set a plan for helping kids get back some of their missing rights. Activities that aim to educating children socially were started. Children were given a place to go to in their free time that guaranteed taking care of them and teaching them how to be active members in their society. The Club is considered the first club in the camp that was established especially for children and it was registered in the Youth Ministry as an Official club under the number (1000/2003).
